Hello everyone and welcome to my Personal Finance Blog.
I am Lee aka The Money Monk and I am creating this blog to help everyday people like you to make extra money through side hustles, save extra money with nifty tricks and tips and generally build towards a Brighter future.
A Bit About Me
I live in the south of the UK with my wife (I’d love to say “And dog” but we both work long hours so it isnt fair to own a dog) I love running, going to the gym, and going on holidays with my wife to explore new foods, cultures and of course to escape the English weather.
I am also very partial to a side hustle and love trying new ones to see how I get on. You are going to learn a lot about side hustles from reading this blog and I can’t wait to share them with you.
My Experience
I used to be really bad with money and, like many people, ended up living paycheck to paycheck. I realized this was not what I wanted for my life so I made a few simple changes to help me get my finances in order.
So what makes me qualified to tell you how to get your finances in order and to build wealth?
I am just a normal guy with a relatively average job, but I was struggling just before the pandemic. My wages were low and I had over £10,000 in credit card debt as well as online shopping accounts etc.
Each month I was paying the minimum payments just to service these debts and they were not going down.
I started searching online and found some very creative ways of saving money.
I also realised that, to get myself out of debt I was going to have to make more money and this is where my love of a good side hustle came in.
I have tried and tested over 30 side hustles over the last 4 years or so. Some have failed within a week some have had moderate success and some I have turned into small businesses that are still paying me every day while I work a full-time job.
With the extra money from these side hustles, I have not only paid off all of my debt apart from my mortgage but I have also managed to save a good emergency fund which helps me sleep better at night and I have built a steadily growing investment account.
Whether it’s paying off large amounts of debt or just making an extra £50 per month I hope this little blog of mine helps you do that and I am always here for any questions as I simply love talking to people about improving their finances.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to speaking to some of you. You can contact me via the comments section of any posts or via email at [email protected]
