Help Spread The Love

With the cost of living seemingly affecting everyone currently, it made sense that I should write about 21 Top Tips to make extra money in a week.

I could probably have done £100 in a day but this takes a lot of work. I wanted something that would be easily within the grasp of people who perhaps have never tried side jobs before.

Also, some of you may not be very creative (Just like me). Therefore I am aiming for £100 in one week. Let’s be honest £400 extra per month will make a difference to most people’s lives.

I will be including some top tips to make money from home seeing as a lot more of us are now at home working than ever before.

I feel it is essential that people can make a little bit of money at home from side jobs. This is important for those who have either lost an income or are feeling the effects of the cost of living.

For some of you, the bar of £100 in a week will be too easy but that’s ok. Smash through that limit I set and achieve even more.

You will probably surprise yourself if you can put aside an hour or two per day for something you know is making you money, then £100 should be quite easy to achieve.

So let’s dive into my secret Black Book of side jobs, passive side hustles and creative ways to make money.

Some of my posts may contain affiliate links. This simply means if you purchase something after clicking one of the links I may receive a commission at no extra cost to yourself. Many thanks for the continued support.

1: Make Extra Money Getting Fit

I’m not even joking, A year ago I didnt even realize this was a thing but it is.

Ok so you are not going to get rich doing it but it will make you a little extra cash. This is in the form of rewards or PayPal money towards your total.

This isn’t one of my top tips to make money but it is worth doing, especially with the current cost of living. Even an extra £10 every couple of weeks will help.

Some apps believe it or not will pay you to work out. Sweatcoin is the main app that I use when I walk or run. If you are a runner like myself then the Sweatcoins add up very quickly.

Other apps out there also pay you to work out but this is one of the ones with the most amount of downloads. I have earned coins and spent them on this app no problem.

2: Offers Sites

There are lots of offers sites out there but if you use 2 or 3 trusted ones then that £100 in a week is doable in a couple of days if you put the work in.

Side jobs don’t come much easier than this.

My favourite ones and the ones I use regularly and trust are “Ohmydosh”, Inbox Pounds and Swagbucks.

These 3 are the big boys and if you sign up today with them and start working your way through the offers then you will be surprised at how quickly you will make money.

If you are looking for side hustle ideas for moms then this is a great place to get started and get a little bank of cash together which will then help you get in on other side jobs and passive side hustles.

My one word of warning is that the offers that pay really good money are usually the betting sites and the subscription sites. With the betting ones follow the instructions get your money then leave.

With the subscription sites make a reminder on your phone to remind you to quit before the free month is up and you get charged for a full month afterward.

3: Try Cashback

If you are looking at buying any goods online then if you use a cashback site such as Quidco or Topcashback you can get a percentage of the sale price back as cash in your account.

I usually use Topcashback religiously in the build-up to Christmas and then birthdays throughout the year. This usually gives me enough cash-back to use for the following Christmas. Almost like a buy one get one free kind of deal.

4: Matched Betting

This is my forte and is what I always describe as one of the best Side jobs around. Not only that but it is one of the best side hustle ideas for moms. The extra time moms spend at home can be used to make large amounts of profit from Matched Betting

Matched betting has become harder in recent years due to bookmakers getting wise to it but it is entirely possible to make over £1000 per month every month.

In the UK horse racing festival known as Cheltenham, I made £300 Guaranteed profit in 4 days.

I use a site called Outplayed.com to help me find the Guaranteed bets and they always have a free month to show you the ropes and help you make around £40 profit in no time at all.

Try it out below for free and get stuck into the best side job to bag you loads of profit.

5: Car Boot Sales

To be fair I have only done this once as it does require getting up and out of bed early which is hard for me to do as I’m predominantly quite lazy.

However, if you can get out of bed early and get yourself down to a boot sale it is easy money and you get rid of some of your unwanted goods to boot.

It saves on postage and packaging and as it is an early start you are done by the afternoon and in profit as well.

This can be one of the best creative ways to make money as the better looking your stall is and the more creative your set up the more sales you are likely to receive.

A quick tip: Mark your goods at a higher price than you would take as people haggle at car boot sales.

6: Mystery Shopping

Mystery shopping is one of those ideal side jobs to be done by older retired people as you have lots of time during the day to complete tasks.

It can be done by anyone though and some of the tasks you get to complete are good fun.

My favourite was to go and have a game of bowling at my local bowling alley.

The cost of the bowling was reimbursed to me and I earned an added incentive on top.

This is one of the better ways to make extra money as some of the jobs require you to use your initiative such as ringing a business and getting certain answers to the questions you have asked.

7: Etsy

Selling on Etsy is great for people who are creative and can design custom vintage goods to be sold on this site.

The Etsy site is renowned for its custom goods and you can make a lot of profit.

If creative ways to make money are what you are looking for then have a glance around the Etsy store and see some examples for yourself. I myself have sold digital products on this site quite easily.

8: Make Extra Money Selling Ads On Your Car

Did you know you can sell advertising space on your car? I didnt until I saw it advertised in America and wondered if this was a thing in the UK as well.

Well, it is thanks to carquids. They have given us all an opportunity for creative ways to make money.

Simply fill in a short form about your driving habits and they will send you some easy stick ads to place on your car.

You can earn between £60-100 per month and this should easily pay for your Insurance and Road tax.

9: Food Delivery

Getting nearly any type of food delivered to your door is one of the great things that has come from the modern age of mobile use.

Getting a job with one of the many companies such as Ubereats or Deliveroo is easy. The job can be worked to fit your schedule.

Using your own transport you can earn extra money in the evenings or at weekends.

10: Freelancing

This is one of my top ways to make extra money I was talking about. I’m not super creative but if you search around Freelancing sites such as Fiverr, you will see there are countless ways to make great money by selling your creative skills.

I have been on there a few times to buy website logos or Pinterest templates and it is simple to use.

If you are creative then get yourself on to Fiverr and create some side jobs for yourself.

Once you have found your niche and put your skills up on Fiverr especially those in a digital format then this is a true glimpse at what passive side hustles can bring you.

I know of several Pinterest users who have created templates and then sold them over 1000 times at £5 each. You spend your time once to make the product then sell repeatedly with no further effort. Passive income is the way.

11: Sell Your Study Notes For Extra Money

Sometimes studying for exams or coursework is hard. Stuvia takes all the hard work out of that by allowing you to sell your study notes.

Not only are you improving your knowledge and advancing your career choice you are also making money on the side doing it.

One of the better more creative ways to make extra money as you are helping out other struggling students.

I always see Google searches on how to make money as a teenager. Unfortunatly this never gets mentioned but is an untapped goldmine.

Passive side hustles are the best side hustles and this is a great one to try.

12: Sell Second-Hand Dvd’s & Books

As streaming has become way more popular and accessible it means we all now have lots of useless DVDs.

Added to that the advancement of Kindles and other such E-readers means that we don’t even need our bookshelves anymore.

Why not sell these items on some of the great selling sites out there such as Music Magpie and WeBuyBooks?

It is as simple as scanning a bar code, Awaiting the packaging then posting off and receiving your cash. It will not have you searching to upgrade your home but it will bring you in a few extra pounds.

13: Make Extra Money Blogging

So this is not a quick way of making money by any means. However, one of the more creative ways of making extra money.

This is a sidehustle that has a steep learning curve and can take years to earn money.

Passive side hustles are an amazing thing to achieve as you can earn while you sleep. Blogging happens to be one of those passive side hustles.

If you have a passion and think other people would love to read about it online then my advice would be to use a small outlay and get started and learn as you go. I have done with my blog which started out just under a year ago and has grown nicely since.

Once you have established yourself then a blog is one of the best passive side hustles you can have.

14: Rent-A-Room

If you have a big house and a spare room you might consider renting it out. This is one of many great side jobs that can bring you a good second income.

You can either advertise locally or you can advertise on Airbnb. It is a great way of advertising your spare rooms. You might be surprised at just how much money you can make.

If neither of these is appealing then you can also host Foreign Students. This can either be long-term or short-term. It brings little in the way of work but good daily rates of cash.

Student hosting is one of the better side hustle ideas for moms. Try looking on your local Facebook groups for more info locally.

15: Washing Cars:

When I was younger and I was looking at creative ways to make extra money as a teenager I found the easiest side hustle idea for me to do without spending any money getting started was to simply grab a bucket, sponge and Chamois and go knocking on people’s doors to see if they wanted their cars washed.

I started to make some good money. In the current financial climate with lots of people’s cars sitting around getting dirty, it is the ideal opportunity.

16: Sell On Facebook

To save advertising and packaging simply sell your items on your local Facebook page. It doesn’t cost you anything. People can simply collect from your house or you can drop to their house in exchange for cash.

17: Rent Out Your Driveway

This for me is one of my more creative ways to make extra money. If like me you are at work all day long and your driveway is free then it makes perfect sense to rent it out to people who are finding it hard to find parking spaces.

You will make more money if you are near a transport network or a stadium which can host gigs or sporting events.

If this is the case then you can make quite a lot more money.

Just Park is one of the more viable sites to use. If you do have that spare driveway throughout the day and or evening then get on there and check out the pricing.

Rent Your driveway

18: Comping

Comping which is the task of entering competitions competitively is a good way of using your spare time.

You have to enter at least 20 competitions a day to stand a chance of winning anything.

This is also a good example of how to make money as a teenager. They have all the time in the world to enter competitions. (Or enter them for you)

Set up a new email and phone number and search out free competitions to enter and enter as many as you can per day.

Statistics state that eventually, you will be a winner. Be that a Boxset of your favourite films or a holiday.

19: Dont Quit Your Day Job

Utilizing the skills you have doing your day job is one of the more creative ways to make extra money.

For example, I work on motor vehicles during my day job so when people I know need their cars fixed or looked at they call me and I earn a little bit extra doing this.

Have you got particular skills that you could use to make money on the side of your day job? The perfect side job is one of those that you already have the skills for.

20: Get Paid To Drink Alcohol

No need to read that title twice. There is a site called Servelegal which is looking for young people to carry out age-related testing services to check if pubs and clubs are potentially serving underage people.

If I was looking at how to make money as a teenager I think this would be my first call.

You can’t just go out and get drunk. You do have work to do as well but you will be reimbursed for all drinks and travel as well as being paid.

Apply if you are aged between 16-19 and looking for a side job.

21: Write And Publish An Ebook

You do not need to be the next J.K Rowling to be able to publish an E-book. The Amazon Kindle store is full of people just like you and me who have written an E-book.

This can be one of the better ways to make money. You can be as creative as you wish with an E-book.

This is also a good example of passive side hustles. Once the book is written and is being brought online then you are making that passive income.

My advice would be to write about something you have knowledge about.

How to start a blog or how to create a landscaped garden.

Whatever your passion is, If you are knowledgeable about it then people will be willing to spend a couple of pounds on an E-book to learn about it.

You can get free Ebook templates and then just fill them up with all that untapped knowledge you have on that certain subject matter.

Money Takes Time:

Remember making money takes time generally. By combining two or more of these great ways to make extra money you can certainly make that £100 in a week.

I believe you can make more. It is all a matter of mindset and how badly you want to earn from these side jobs.

If you have tried other ways to make extra money then I would love to hear them. I may even include your story in a follow-up at some point.
