Make Extra Money By Getting Cash For Clothes You No Longer Need

How many of you have a wardrobe bursting with clothes you no longer like or have grown out of? How About getting some cash for clothes you don’t wear anymore?

Hell, I even have some clothes that have the labels still on. Usually where I decided I didn’t like them or had nothing that went with them.

Did you know that you can get cash for clothes you no longer want?

There are loads of websites and mobile apps that allow you to sell your unwanted clothes. Some of these sites are so popular that you could sell your entire wardrobe in minutes. (Please don’t do that though!)

I have my favourite best-selling clothes app that I love. If you read on you will find out what that is.

I have gone through and tried all the sites and will give my honest opinions in this article. We will talk about how much the fees are and how reputable the site is.

After all, even if you are not going to wear the clothes you at least want to use a reputable site.

Getting cash for clothes you dont wear is a bit of a no-brainer, to be honest.

We all grow out of clothes or change our style up and this leaves us with a wardrobe full of potential cash. It also gives someone else the chance to love that item of clothing as much as you did.

When it comes to money management then selling clothes you wont wear again is a smart choice.

You can use the money to save on new clothes or simply put it into your savings pot. Whatever you do with the cash it makes good financial sense to cash in.

Cash for clothes

Vinted:

Vinted was the first site I tried as it had great reviews.

The company was founded in 2008 and now has offices across Europe.

With over 34 million members worldwide you are bound to find something pre-loved that you can now love.

The easiest way to use Vinted is to download the Vinted App.

The vinted app is the best-selling clothes app and having the app makes it much easier to get cash for clothes. It is available on both the Apple store and the Android Play store.

You can list your items for free, Just download the Vinted App and take a photo of your item.

Write a short description and set your price and that’s it. Post it up and wait for people to buy your clothes for cash.

Once your item has sold simply place it in a box and then print off your prepaid shipping label. Then take the item to a drop-off point.

Once the buyer has confirmed that the item is good then you get paid.

There are no selling fee’s which is great.

You will get your money slower than say a site like eBay. It isn’t much of an issue when you are not paying fees.

You will find most brands on Vinted’s best-selling clothes app. From sports brands such as Adidas and Nike to high-end brands such as Valentino and Prada.

Depop:

Depop is another great place to get cash for clothes.

It is similar to Vinted in that you can download the Depop app from the app stores for both Apple and Android then take pictures or videos of your items and list them up.

Depop takes 10% of the final price so this is something to bear in mind especially if you are selling higher-ticket items.

The app much like Vinted is designed to appeal to a younger market and looks pretty similar to Instagram.

When you’re getting cash for clothes it makes sense as it is much easier to see the quality of the items when it is a picture-based website.

Depop is becoming more of a social app although a word of warning.

Always double-check people’s profiles if you intend on making a purchase instead of selling.

Make sure their profile is fully filled out and has good feedback.

When you start selling your items it is worth selling the smaller cheaper items first so you can build up some reputation as a good seller.

Earning cash for clothes

Rebelle:

Now should you be lucky enough to have some high-market products with very upmarket brands just lying around that you want to get rid of then Rebelle is the place to go. Rebelle only specialises in luxury brands and as such charges a percentage of any sale.

NOTE: Rebelle has now closed its site and you can find them on Vinted.

Shpock:

Shpock is a favourite of mine and I have used it a lot. Although I have not used it for getting cash for clothes yet but it is high up on my list of things to do.

I have mainly bought Video games or toys but I have got used to the way it works.

Shpock is a mobile app that works similarly to Vinted and Depop in that you download the app from the app stores, take pictures of the items you want to sell and set your price.

People contact you through the in-app messaging and you will either agree on the price or agree on an offer.

Shpock is my top best-selling app, I love it and have had much success with this app in particular.

Shpock is a local marketplace-style app and is great for quick sales where someone will come and collect the goods from your house or you can drop them off at theirs.

There is an option for Paypal and postage etc but it is more commonly used for cash-in-hand type deals.

There are no charges for using Shpock. I have found it the easiest to use and the quickest to sell, out of all of these style of selling apps.

Selling clothes for cash

Facebook:

Ahh good old Facebook. They have a pretty respectable marketplace which is very easy to use and navigate. Although a caveat is that recently there are a lot of scammers so make sure you check their profile etc.

If they created a profile in the last few weeks or months then it might not be for you.

My only gripe with earning cash for clothes on Facebook is that people trying to buy these clothes can see your profile and this makes me a little nervous as I am quite a private person.

You can block parts of your profile from people should this cause you any unease.

The other issue is that some people may not want their friends knowing that they need cash and are selling their clothes. Again you can make your items for sale hidden from friends should you wish.

If you are looking for cash for clothes near you then this is ideal. Most of the people will be in your local area.

I googled cash for clothes near me and found hundreds of listings so this may be the best course of action when looking to sell as you can see what other items are being listed.

Having said all of that though I have brought a few things from the Facebook marketplace and it was easy.

The good thing is that this is one of the quickest ways of making cash for clothes and other items and this has got to be positive.

Only deal in cash in hand transactions and avoid posting any items of clothing to people you don’t know.

Car Boot Sales:

Car boot sales are a bit of an old-style of selling clothes but you will be surprised. You have to get up early and make sure you have a clothes rail or a foldable table of some kind.

You may also get hit with the great British weather but in 6 or so hours you could easily sell most of your stuff and walk away with a pot full of cash.

A fee to pitch up at most boot sales is usually the case. This is minimal compared to how much profit you can make from selling your clothes.

The things to note are the costs which are anywhere between £5-15 and the people who like to get there early and rifle through everything. Be there early and be prepared.

If you are looking for a mass clear-out though and you want cash for clothes then car boot sales are ideal. You can usually clear most stuff in one day.

Pin For Future Reference:

eBay:

So I have a slight issue with eBay in that I have been scammed. I have had warnings for no reason and I have been overcharged on fees.

Mix all of that in with the Paypal fee and I am done with eBay.

However, you need not be. Don’t let my little dispute with them cloud your judgement of them.

I had a bit more luck when I used eBay to dropship items but it still isn’t my favourite site to use.

eBay is the biggest-selling site in the world and attracts over 180 million users each year. You can’t argue with that kind of audience.

Clothes also happen to be one of eBay’s biggest sellers and you can do rather well on this platform.

If you want to work around some of the eBays fees then this is the best thing to do.

Sort out all the clothes you want to sell and take all of your pictures in well-lit rooms against plain backdrops and then work out your pricing etc. Make sure to sell on one of eBays free listing days or when they do a £1 listing weekend.

Place all of your items up in one go and take advantage of low listing fee’s.

Make sure you sell a few items first to get a bit of a profile and then also make sure you use a tracked postage service otherwise, you will open yourself up to disputes.

If you need cash for clothes then eBay is prob the top site to do it and get paid quickly.

Cash For Clothes Collection:

If like me you are a little lazy and cannot be bothered to run around the house getting all of your old clothes and then putting pictures up online and then having to post them when they sell you could always do cash for clothes collection.

Cash for clothes collection works like this. There are various clothes collection sites in cities all around the UK and they will buy clothes from you as long as they are not damaged.

They simply buy clothes and trainers or handbags and give you a value based on weight.

Now this isnt going to get you the most money as selling clothes by weight is not going to work out very cost-effective. Most sites only offer around 50-60 pence per kilo.

If like a lot of households though you have 50-60 kilos of clothes lying around in the bottom of a wardrobe then this is the easiest way of getting cash for clothes.

The best site I have seen for this so far is WeBuyAnyClothes. They will collect the clothes from your door and pay cash.

You cannot get quicker than that when trying to get cash for clothes. Although note that the this is the quickest way of earning.

Make Extra Money By Getting Cash For Clothes You No Longer Need

If you have any spare clothes lying around in your wardrobe like most of us do (Especially my wife) then sell your clothes for cash and get spending that cash on something else.

Had any successes yourself from selling clothes online for cash? then I would love to hear them. If you know of a site that buys clothes and I haven’t listed it above then get in touch about adding your site to my list.
